Pharmacology is the science of drugs and their effect on living systems. You can find pharmacology present everywhere. In medicine cabinets, when you visit the dentists and when you take any type of medication. Pharmacology is also responsible for painkillers, caffeine drinks and antibiotics. It is the science of what is happening to your body and to the drug itself. Every medication we take alters the chemistry within our body. The role of pharmacology is to understand why these changes are happening, allowing us to develop better drugs. Pharmacology is the science of drugs and their effect on living systems.
Metabolism is a biotransformation process, where endogenous and exogenous compounds are converted to more polar products to facilitate their elimination from the body. The process of metabolism is divided into 3 phases. Phase I metabolism involves functionalization reactions. Phase II drug metabolism is a conjugation reaction. Phase III refers to transporter-mediated elimination of drug and/or metabolites from body normally via liver, gut, kidney, or lung. This review presents basic information on drug-metabolizing enzymes and potential factors that might affect the metabolic capacities of the enzyme or alter drug response or drug-mediated toxicities . Nanotoxicology is the study of the toxicity of nanomaterials. Because of quantum size effects and large surface area to volume ratio, nanomaterials have unique properties compared with their larger counterparts. Nanotoxicology is a branch of bionanoscience which deals with the study and application of toxicity of nanomaterials. Nanomaterials , even when made of inert elements like gold, become highly active at nanometer dimensions. Nanotoxicological studies are intended to determine whether and to what extent these properties may pose a threat to the environment and to human beings. For instance, Diesel nanoparticles have been found to damage the cardiovascular system in a mouse model. Pharmacological tests are used when one wants to evaluate if a substance or plant extract is biologically active. There are many pharmacological tests and each one of them demonstrates various aspects that are important for the understanding of the mechanisms behind illnesses, their causes and cures. When people talk about pharmacological tests they often think about tests on animals, but in fact these form only a small part of all such tests. One can determine if a substance has an effect on isolated enzymes as well as human or animal cells by using a test tube. For instance, products for treating cancer are first examined in test tubes on cultivated cancer cells from tumours and only if they have a good effect are they then tested on other systems.
